Upgraded Sound and Technology

We were able to modify the dash to accommodate a larger touchscreen stereo with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.  The speakers were upgraded using Audiofrog’s GS series that mount behind the factory panels for a seamless look. The system is powered by a JL Audio VXI amplifier with DSP. The Hertz Mille Pro shallow 12-inch subwoofer in a custom enclosure is powered by an Audison SR series monoblock amplifier.

The Vision

We wanted to keep the look and feel of the original interior but took a few liberties to make the audio sound great. We wanted to find a place for the subwoofer to mount that did not take up much room in the hatch area.

The Process

We removed the side panel and built an enclosure for the shallow Hertz Mille Pro MPS subwoofer to fit in the side panel. We covered it in similar material to the original interior to blend the look as much as possible. The DPS amplifier was tuned to the driver seat for a much improved sound and accurate music while retaining the original speaker locations.  The dash was modified slightly to accommodate a Kenwood double din size head unit.
