Sound quality with the bass to back it up

The speakers in this Defender were upgraded with BRAX and a custom ported enclosure for a JL Audio 10W7 subwoofer delivers the deep end

The Vision

This car gave us the opportunity to upgrade the original front three-way speaker locations with excellent sound quality speakers while maintaining the factory original head unit and media control. We were able to process all of the audio channels through a Helix 12-channel DSP amplifier to upgrade the sound and keep it looking mostly original.

The Process

We did and active BRAX 3-way speaker set in the front with a Helix Ci7 center channel speaker and Helix Ci3 rears. The system was powered by a Helix V Twelve DSP MK2 amplifier and Helix P One subwoofer amplifier. We were able to retain the third row seating and use a 10W7 subwoofer by custom making a taller than normal ported enclosure that allows for enough airspace for the subwoofer but also keeps it within the confines of the rear cargo area behind the back row of seats.

The Timeline

This was a seven day build followed by a DSP tuning session.
