Sound for Live Radio

This vehicle is for a local radio station that needed an upgrade for live remote broadcasts and events.

The Vision

We were given free rein on what to do with this vehicle.  It would be used to draw attention at live radio remote locations as well as parades and other large scale event. We needed a sound system that was simple to use, expandable, and loud enough to fill the area around it.

The Process

We removed the lighted sign boards from either side of the raised roof and cut four JL Audio marine speakers into each side through the clear acrylic. We used a mixer on the internal sound rack to distribute sound and control of the audio.  We included a Kenwood eXcelon head unit as an audio source for live radio, as well as USB, CD, and Bluetooth sources.  Microphones can be connected to the mixer or to the external jack outside the vehicle to project sound.  Two more PA speakers can be added to the system to get more sound from the system.  A pair of JL Audio marine 10-inch subwoofers in a ported enclosure were mounted under the back of the vehicle.
