View Case StudyThis big bow rider needed better sound
We upgraded the speakers and subwoofers in this 27 ft Chaparral with Hertz marine and added zone control.
The Vision
The boat’s older factory sound system was failing and the speakers were dry rotted. We were looking for an upgrade in quality as well as in appearance. With a larger boat like this, it made sense to have several zones for volume control. That way each area could be at different volume levels that were comfortable to them.
The Process
We upgraded the speakers with Hertz HEX marine speakers and subwoofers. They provide RGB LED lighting and we used a Hertz RGB controller to change the colors. The Clarion CMS4 head unit provided four different zone controls. Each location had its own wired remote mounted in a convenient location to change the source, song, and volume. The bow, cockpit, swim platform, and subwoofers are all zoned separately for independent control. The system was powered by JL Audio amplifiers. We also added an extra Interstate marine deep cycle battery.
The Timeline
This was a four day build.
